Panathinaikos completed his pre-season preparation for this year’s European assignments in the best way, as proved by the… friendly victory 4-0 against FC PEC Zwolle, at “Apostolos Nikolaidis” Stadium.
Particularly in the first half, the “Shamrock” made a very positive impression, playing fast football, creating opportunities in both normal flow and set pieces, scoring three goals in that time!
In the remarkable points of the game against the Dutch team we can include the first appearance of Wakaso in our team. The Ghanaian combined his debut by scoring a goal, while Ledesma had his fresh start scoring for… Panathinaikos.
The “Greens” opened the score by an excellent backspin ball shot by the Argentinean midfielder who targeted widely the goalpost of Van der Hart at the 27th minute. Ten minutes later Lod started… and concluded -by a close passing off- his intervention scoring the second goal. Ledesma, Zeka, Ibarbo and Hult were also closely present at that scoring moment.
At the 40th minute, Wakaso scored an outstanding goal… as after having “avoided” his opponent by a very nice feint, he passed the ball off into the right corner of the goalpost… leaving the goalkeeper of FC Zwolle flabbergasted!
Then Berg received a passing ball by Villafañes, transforming it easily into a fourth goal for Panathinaikos at the 66th minute, after confronting face to face Van der Hart, finalizing the score.
The team of Andrea Stramaccioni is looking forward to know which one from AIK Stockholm or Europa Gibraltar will be its opponent, in a week from now, for the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League competition…
