Panathinaikos was back to victories in its competitions after having won Atromitos, 1-0 with a goal by Molins, after an assist of Berg in the 86th minute, in a game held at “Ap. Nicolaidis” stadium for the 29th match day of the Super League’s championship.
The rhythm of the duel was not very high at the beginning and this was positive for the defensive orientation of the opponents who were not threatened and in the contrary were trying to show their presence by counterattacking, mainly with Digini. After the first twenty minutes of the first period the “Shamrock” started gradually its pressure towards Atromitos’ box threatening Theodorakis. Though, that pressure did not bring so many chances to Panathinaikos in order to open the score till the pause.
The second half was better than the first one and the hosts were pressing much more since the first minutes. Mpoku, who was in his very day, was the main actor of Panathinaikos’ attacks and the footballers that entered as substitution players helped in these attacks. Both Molins and Chatziyiovanis were well noted by Atromitos’ defenders, who were retreating as time was passing. As the “Shamrock” started accumulating its chances the goal … was approaching. A shoot by Chatziyiovanis to the post and a close header by Kourbelis were the most obvious among them. In the 86th minute Molins, after a vertical cross by Mpoku to Berg and an assist by the Swede, couldn’t miss the opportunity to score his first goal wearing the jersey of Panathinaikos. This way he offered three valuable points to his team to be considered for the special rating of the playoffs.
