In a match that brought an unexpected result and a surprising reversal, Panathinaikos, playing with two players less, won 2-1 the team of Larissa, thanks to a goal scored by Hiljemark in the last minute of the duel. The game was held at “Ap. Nicolaidis” stadium for the 7th match day of the Super League Greece championship.
As a matter of fact nothing could predict the cohesion of some facts that took this match to an unexpected end. In a breathtaking duel, Panathinaikos was the big winner achieving a second consecutive victory. It really seemed that two different games were played in Leoforos! The first one till the 77th minute and the second one … just after that minute. In the first part the “Greens” entered the game with dynamism and devotion to “kill” this match as quickly as possible. Gradually the team found its steps, its automation and a successful coordination, mainly between its strikers Lod, Hiljemark and Villafañez, who assisted Molins. On the other side Hult and Coulibaly were running permanently on the wings. The “Greens” could have opened the score either in the 3rd or in the 18th minute if a penalty would be allowed to them, as Zizic overthrew Moledo by a headlock in the box. A third penalty was to be allowed, though, over Molins. The penalty was shot in the 50th minute by Villafañez, who opened the score. Despite the fact that Larissa seemed to be gaining some space in the pitch, after that, there was no threat, with the exception of a shoot by Leozinho, who sent the ball straight to the post. On the other hand, Panathinaikos was the team finding enough spaces to attack.
All this happened till the 77th minute, when Sylla got a second yellow card and had to leave the pitch. One minute later, after the change of the players potential both teams were competing with, the score was to change as well; a foul committed by the African player was executed by Leozinho who sent the ball straight into Vlachodimos’ goalposts. Even before the “Shamrock” could react, Altman was expelled two minutes after his entrance in the pitch by a direct red card, letting his team with only 9 players… to confront the 11 ones οf Larissa. In such a situation, where even a draw could be considered a success, Hiljemark did a cross, which passed over the head of Moledo – who was positioned as a striker at the end – sending the ball towards the left window of “stock-stilled” Bozovic, in the 93rd minute, offering Panathinaikos a great victory and three very precious points!
