Panathinaikos had a bad night in Rennes. The Greens were defeated 3-1 by the French team and dropped to third place in Group F of the Europa League. As in the Leoforos game, Rennes found a way to bend the resistance of the Greens, who had no solutions even though they tied at 1-1 and played with one player more than 34 minutes. It was one of those nights when nothing works right…
Fabian Rieder found the net from 20 yards out on nine minutes. Fotis Ioannidis made no mistake from the spot on 34′. On the second half (65′) Salah gave the lead (2-1) to Rennes, who scored another one with a penalty kick by Blas in 67′.
