By two amazing goals of Filip Djuricic, Panathinaikos prevailed 3-1 against Panserraikos for the 5th matchday of Stoiximan Super League.
The Greens, who took an early lead through Tete, immediately conceded the equalizing goal and although they had chances, they did not find the way to the net to clean up the match earlier. However, two superb goals from Djuricic, who came off the bench, provided the solution in the final quarter and brought the Shamrock back to winning days.
The game started perfectly for Panathinaikos. In the 10th minute, the Greens circulated the ball nicely. Bakasetas opened for Mladenovic, who curled in a one-on-one cross. Incoming Tete, who made a move at the second post, scored from close range to open the score (1-0).
Panserraikos, scored the equalizer by a head of Betancor in the 15th minute, after Fares crossed from the left side,.
Still in the first half in the 45+4 minute, after a nice movement of the ball, Ounahi shot, Gugeshashvili saved and Vagiannidis, who caught Panserraikos goalkeeper’s exit, was punched and collapsed inside the area. Referee Evangelou initially awarded a penalty, but withdrew his decision after a VAR review.
In the second half, Diego Alonso wanted to freshen up his line-up, initially using Djuricic and Baldock and then (76′) Yeremeyeff, choosing a formation with two centre-forwards. Panathinaikos’ pressure paid off in the 81st minute when Tete set up for Djuricic, who with a wonderful pass from the top of the box sent the ball over the right post and into the net to make it 2-1.
The Serbian midfielder did not stop there as in the 88th minute he carried the ball for several meters and unleashed a “lightning” from a long distance sending the ball… set up for the final 3-1.
