Euro-Panathinaikos is here again! The slogan “Greece, Europe, Panathinaikos” shook the “hot” Leoforos again and the Greens celebrated an important qualification. Ivan Jovanovic’s players completed the job they started a week ago in Kozice, Slovakia, with the victory over Dnipro (1-3) and combined with the valuable -at-home- 2-2, locked qualification and secured the ticket to the third qualifying round of the Champions League. At the same time, they ensured their presence in the group stage. Undoubtedly, this is a historic return to where Panathinaikos belongs. And the best is yet to come…
Panathinaikos already has in mind the upcoming big matches against Marseille for the third qualifying round with the first goal being the playoffs but with the ultimate goal the… stars of the group stage of the Champions League. A huge and at the same time historic challenge for the club…
However, the game against the excellent and highly competitive Dnipro was anything but easy for the Greens, who, despite taking an early lead with Sporar (15′), found themselves losing 1-2 in the second half. However, a second goal (70′) from the Slovenian forward (the third overall in two games) restored order and Panathinaikos celebrated the qualification.
