The many absences, fatigue from consecutive games and countless missed chances cost Panathinaikos. The Greens were beaten 2-1 by Atromitos in Leoforos in the first game for the Greek Cup quarter-finals. The players of Panathinaikos left their home ground defeated for the first time with Fatih Terim on the bench, but they are sure to give it their all in next week’s rematch (31/1, 19.00) in Peristeri to reverse the situation against them.
Panathinaikos scored at 11′ through Aitor but Atromitos pulled off the upset with goals from Angielski (25′) and Jubitana (42′). The Greens could have equalized on the 90th minute from the penalty spot but Tsintotas and the crossbar twice prevented Ioannidis from scoring.
