The derby between Panathinaikos and AEK at the OPAP Arena ended in a 2-2 draw and the Greens remained at the top of the Stoiximan Super League for one more week. It was a game that had it all and kept the interest unabated from the first to the last second.
Fatih Terim’s team, who put their heart and soul into the game and had an overall very good performance in a high profile match, deserved the victory, which they held on to until 95 minutes, despite being behind and despite being denied a blatant penalty…
AEK opened the score at 24′ with Garcia, but Panathinaikos turned the game around with goals from Jedvaj at 32′ and Arao at 66′. AEK were saved from defeat at 96′ by Garcia’s penalty.
