Panathinaikos duplicated its victories in this season’s Super League competition, having won by an impressive 4-0 the team of PAS Giannina in “Apostolos Nikolaidis” stadium, for the fourth match day of the Greek championship.
Having several changes in its main lineup, while Samba and Coulibaly were debuting together with M’Poku, who entered as a substitute, the “Shamrock” won the “precious” three points, having the possibility to score even more goals against the team of Epirus!
By this convincing appearance our team has showed that it was able to overcome the match against Ajax in a best way, remaining in the first place of the Super League’s scoreboard, without letting in even one goal for a second consecutive match.
Expulsion and… substitution
Panathinaikos started the game playing with strength, trying to get advantage of the fact that this was a home game. Samba was having a dominant role in its attacks, especially in the ones starting from set pieces.
The expulsion of goalkeeper Paschalakis – an absolutely correct decision- before the first 30 minutes stumped even more the task of PAS, though the entrance of Villafañes combined with the change of the system, into a 4-4-2 in diamond, made the hosting team even more menacing and aggressive.
The collaboration and the high pressing offered the very much desired 1-0, in the 38th minute by Berg, who is in an extremely good shape during this very period. Four minutes later the Swede striker shot the ball to the post!
Goal and show!
In the second half, the target of the “Greens” was to “finish” the game victoriously and as quickly as possible. This was achieved as in the 54th minute Berg, the scorer, became more creative so Lod was able to score his first goal for the season, giving a quick end to the duel!
The team from Epirus was not lucky, as in the 68th minute Acosta left the pitch injured. Having completed all their substitutions, they had no other possibility than remaining with nine players till the end of the confrontation…
Andrea Stramaccioni’s players didn’t… feel pity for the opponent. In the contrary; they were not threatened at all and were able to score two more goals. One executed by Berg in the 76th minute and another one by Leto, who scored a second consecutive goal in the championship, just two minutes before the end of the match.
