Panathinaikos was dominant in Crete winning by two nil in its duel against OFI, Herakleion’s local team, in a match held at “Th. Vardinoyiannis” stadium. During the whole match the Greens were superior and celebrated their second victory for this season’s Super League championship.
Palacios scored his first goal for the season and Sporar was the author of the second one, both thanks to the assistance and the inspiration of Ruben and Aitor. Ivan Jovanovic’s team entered the pitch well prepared and very determined and got a precious away match three pointer, without being really threatened by their rivals. The Greens started scoring rather quickly as in the 16th minute Ruben did a wonderful cross of 35 meters to Palacios on the left. The Argentinean winger moved quickly, entered the “back yard” of the rival defense and scored spectacularly.
The Shamrock did not rest at all and continued pressing OFI even more. Sporar threatened in the 30th and 31st minute, scoring in the 33rd minute. Aitor crossed nicely in the center of the rival defense and the Slovenian striker projected his leg sending the ball straight to the rival nets. With the result of 0-2 both teams went to the pause.
The second period started in a rather slow rhythm and the Greens had the total control of the match. In the last play of the game, in the 95th minute, the Shamrock lost a big opportunity to score for a third time, as the shoots of both Verbic and Vayiannides were stopped by Stevens, OFI´s goalie and thus the final score remained 0-2.
Nineteen year old Leandro Frokou, a player coming from Panathinaikos´ academies, entered the pitch in the 87th minute in substitution of Aitor, realizing his debut with the Green first team.
