F.C. Panathinaikos announces the acquisition of Yacouba Sylla on loan from F.C. Stade Rennais, till June 2018. This international player with the Malian national team, constitutes our 10th transfer for the current season.
Sylla was born in Etampes, France on the 29th of November 1990 and realized his first football steps in SM Caen from which he moved to Clermont in summer 2010. After playing there for 2,5 years (70 games and 1 assist), he did the “big” step in his career in January 2013 being transferred to Premier League’s Aston Villa! He played in 24 matches for the “Villans”, till July 2015, contributing in 2 assists, before joining F.C. Stade Rennais. In the meantime he moved on loan for one season (2014-15) to Kayseri Erciyesspor (27 games 1 goal). He played for the French team in 23 times, contributing in one assist during the 2015-16 season.
Last season he went on loan to Montpellier HSC, participating in 20 matches and scoring 1 goal.
Sylla has played once for the national team of France U-21. He is international with the first team of Mali, appearing 22 times and being also its captain!
