Panathinaikos FC announces the acquisition of Mauricio José da Silveira Júnior. The Brazilian footballer signed a two year contract.
Mauricio was born on the 21st of October 1988, in Sao José dos Campos, a city in the region of the State of Sao Paolo in Brazil. He realized his first football steps with S.C. Corinthians and in 2006, when he was 18, he was transferred to Fluminense FC. During his first season as a professional player he appeared in 19 championship games and during his second one in 22, scoring one goal.
In February 2010 he left his native Brazil, for the first time, for Terek Grozny, Chechenia, where he remained for six years, playing in 162 matches and scoring 29 goals for the championship. The next step in his career was FC Zenit of Saint Petersburg where he appeared in 30 games and scored one goal for the championship. Since summer of 2017 and till few months ago he was part of the roster of PAOK Thessaloniki. He played 69 times with this northern Greek team and scored 8 goals for the championship. He was one of the leading players of that team which won a championship and two Greek Cups.
